It provides an excellent opportunity for athletes to rehearse their key events in the lead-up to the championship season. Competing at this event also allows swimmers the chance to achieve qualifying times for the upcoming Brisbane and State Championships.

2025 Brisbane Senior Short Course

This is a Championship Meet, and all MBS swimmers who have achieved a qualifying time are required to participate. Bringing together some of the best talent in the state, this event marks the conclusion of the short course season as we transition back to long course racing in Term 4. The meet is targeted at swimmers aged 11 and over. As qualifying times are necessary for entry, it’s important to compete in earlier meets to secure those times. The MBS team has a tradition of using this event as a key team-building experience. The swimmers travel together by bus, offering them a chance to support and cheer each other on, which fosters a strong sense of camaraderie. As the first major meet in the Long Course Preparation phase, it served as an excellent benchmark for our athletes and tested their resilience in a different environment. This is a Championship Meet, and all MBS swimmers who have achieved a qualifying time are expected to participate.

This event is always a great deal of fun every year with the swimmers in different MBS uniforms. I always enjoy seeing the swimmers come together as a team and proudly represent MBS against the other Brisbane clubs. This is a great way for swimmers to work on their relay skills leading into all the term 1 school swimming events.
